But everyone we dealt with personally was very nice. But we had a great time in every way!Paul D. That bunker mentality makes for fast friends. And New Yorkers aren't really nasty. They're just rushed. If you ask someone for directions, nine times out of ten, they'll say, I don't have time to tell you, but follow me. If you're looking at a map, they'll say, where do you need to go?Ellen Byronhttp://www.ellenbyron.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4994072470312639837.post-36135960976728536292017-05-06T12:38:07.175-07:002017-05-06T12:38:07.175-07:00Thanks, RJ. Some not even so good, at least according to some people. But I love them. I’m not saying the Oyster Bar isn’t good. Just the idea of going to a place since one is a kid.

As for opinionated people, well, I think most everyone is. New Yorkers just might be a little more forthright about sharing their opinions ;-) .

And if you liked the pic of the Chrysler building I put in the blog you should see the ones I didn’t. I really have a bunch of great pix of that and the Empire State Building.

And we truly loved every minute of it. It was a great trip in every way! Next time I’ll ask your advice for places to go.
Paul D. My parents took me to the Oyster Bar when I was a kid and I try to get there every time I'm in the city - have never seen a bigger selection of oysters anywhere. People in New York are often highly opinionated, a characteristic that, as one of them, I enjoy.

And then you had the writer events and the award - Congratulations! - and the schmoozing and the pizza and the Chrysler Building at night...I am turning a slightly jealous green. And we’ll congratulate each other next time we’re together!

RM, we didn’t have much time to sightsee, but we crammed a lot into the time we had. And I left out the pix of buildings and stuff. I got some good ones. I hope you have a great trip and even if you don’t have a lot of time there’s something on almost every corner so you’ll enjoy it I’m sure.

Thanks, Dieter!

Thanks, Gayle! And I will set something there… In fact, I’d been working on a novel set there off and on for a long while now so it was great to be able to do some first hand research while there. And thank you for the kind words about my writing.
Paul D. Maybe a Los Angeles murderer tries to lose himself in the bigger city, but back alleys are the same everywhere... Happy you won the award. You capture people and places and that inner soul that makes your work memorable.GBPoolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12190573764848658894noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4994072470312639837.post-56912277700348346992017-05-05T10:37:22.243-07:002017-05-05T10:37:22.243-07:00Thanks for sharing your adventure, Paul.

Lots of fun! I'm going there end of May to the BEA -- also a big surprise I still can't quite believe. I won't get nearly as much time out and about as you got on your fabulous visit, but I'm so looking forward to it.
